Calmer by choiceOur story
FND Forward began with a husband-and-wife team, a life changed without warning and a simple need: to carry the right words into the room when brain fog made them hard to hold onto.
In 2023, Beth was working as a hospice nurse when she suddenly became unwell. Medical retirement meant being told she would not return to nursing. It was more than the loss of a job: caring for people had been part of how she understood herself, and losing that role felt like losing part of her identity.
As Beth navigated a wide range of symptoms—including changes to her mobility, speech and cognition—Dave became her full-time carer. He attended appointments, helped communicate what Beth wanted to say and stood beside her when finding or holding onto the right words was difficult. Beth began using her phone to capture symptoms, questions and concerns in the moment, so they would not be forgotten or misrepresented later.
That simple habit revealed the idea for FND Forward. Beth understood the need from the inside; Dave brought his IT experience to turn it into a thoughtful, practical app. Together they built the tool they had wished for: a private place to record what matters when it happens, then bring a clearer account into healthcare conversations.
Every feature is shaped by personal experience of brain fog, variable energy and the pressure of trying to remember everything in an appointment. FND Forward cannot speak for you—but it can help you hold onto the information you want to share, in your own words and on your own device.
